Lorex Camera Offline

Lorex has made a name in the smart home security systems industry. It has a wide range of security systems based on user preferences and choices. Whether connected to the Lorex Home Center system or the Lorex Home app, sometimes your cameras disconnect and throw the “offline” error message. So, why is your Lorex camera offline?

Lorex displays the “offline” error message when it can’t successfully sync to your camera. It could be a power or network disconnection rendering your camera offline.

In this post, we’ll cover why your Lorex camera is offline and how to go about and get it back online.

Why Is My Lorex Camera Offline

Lorex smart Wi-Fi cameras fall offline once disconnected from the network or the power supply is disrupted. Again, it could be a poor signal from your Lorex Home Center signal. Once the Home center or app can’t reach your camera, it’s displayed as offline.

Once the camera disconnects, you won’t receive live streams, nor will you be able to manage the camera on your smart app.

That said, here are some common reasons for the offline camera issue;

  • Loss of network connection
  • Disruption of the power supply
  • An outdated app or firmware version
  • The camera is in a poor network spot or out of your Wi-Fi network’s range
  • A poor signal between the outdoor camera and the Lorex Home center station

If your area experienced a power outage disconnecting your smart devices, perform a power cycle on your camera and the network router. Give the router a moment to initialize and connect to your smart device.

Once the camera is connected, refresh your Lorex Home app and check the status. It should be back online.

Lorex Camera Offline – Troubleshooting

Whether you are controlling your cameras from the Lorex home app or the Lorex Smart Home Security center, troubleshooting your connection is necessary to get your camera back online.

Perform A Power Cycle

Restarting an electronic device comes in handy when fixing minor connection issues. It fixes minor software bugs and refreshes the connection.

Therefore, the first solution to help get your cameras back online should be to restart your setup. This includes the camera, network router, and any other device on your network.

To restart your camera, unplug it from the power outlet, wait 1 – 2 minutes for it to discharge, and reconnect it to the mains. Apply the same procedure to all the devices on your network (router & Home center).

Once you connect the devices, give them a minute to power up and connect to your network.

Observe the LED indicator on your Lorex camera; a solid green indicates the device is correctly powered up. Otherwise, inspect the camera or the power cord for any physical damage.

Now, refresh the Lorex Home app by closing and reopening it, and finally, check the camera status.

Power cycling has saved me a handful of times when facing connection issues. If it works for you, make it a habit to restart your smart home devices from time to time.

Check That Your Router Is Connected to The Internet

As with most smart home devices, you need an active and stable internet connection to access the Lorex camera on the app.

So, is your router’s internet connection valid? Check on your phone or any other device (pc or tablet) that your router is connected to the internet.

If your network has an issue, you should try fixing it before connecting your camera.

Sometimes, there is a power disruption or a drop in the internet connection. This can affect your camera’s connection causing the “offline” error.

To fix this, restart your network router and the camera. Once the camera is connected, the camera app indicator should turn back to “online.” And you should be able to access and manage the camera.

For Lorex Smart Home Security Center (LSHSC), lift the antennas to boost the signal coverage and ensure no new signal obstructions on the camera line.

If your camera is too far, consider adding a Lorex Home extender to your home setup. This boosts your LSHSC network range, keeping your cameras online.

Reconnect your camera to the Lorex Home app

First, attempt to reconnect the camera to your network without resetting it.

Open the Lorex Home app > tap settings > wireless network > follow the in-app prompts to reconnect your camera.

Alternatively, put the camera in pairing mode by pressing the reset button once. After the camera resets, use the Lorex Home app to set up your camera afresh.

Reset The Camera and Reconnect It to Lorex Home Center

For the LSHSC camera setup, remove the camera from the Lorex Home Center, reset it, set it up on the Lorex Home app and reconnect to LSHSC.

This applies to Lorex home center cameras within your Wi-Fi network range.

To remove a camera from the Lorex home center, tap the “Devices” icon on the top left > on your desired camera, tap the “…” icon > scroll to the bottom and select the “Remove Device” button > confirm your intention by tapping Remove Device.

Next, reset the camera to clear previous configurations and enter pairing mode. On your camera is a reset button; press the button for about 5 seconds.
