The Geeni app allows you to manage, automate and remotely control Geeni smart products. Once the products are set up on the Geeni app, you can integrate compatible virtual assistants for voice control. Geeni device must be connected to your network and online for remote control and optimal functionality.
You will need to change the Wi-Fi connection on your Geeni devices due to a house change, getting a new router, or changing your Wi-Fi settings. So, how to change Wi-Fi on the Geeni app?
In this post, I’ll walk you through updating your Geeni devices to connect to your new Wi-Fi network.
How To Change Wi-Fi Network on Geeni App
To change the Wi-Fi network on a Geeni device, reset the device to clear previous Wi-Fi configurations, and set up the device afresh through the new network. Once the device is in pairing mode, you connect to it as if it were a new device.
The reset process for different Geeni devices is available in your user manual or the Geeni Smart app. When the app asks whether the device is in pairing mode, it provides a reset guide.
Therefore, to successfully change your Wi-Fi network on a Geeni device;
- Reset the device to enter pairing mode
- Reconnect the device to the app
- Update your device to the latest firmware
If the reset and reconnecting method doesn’t work, remove the device from the Geeni Smart app > reset it > reconnect to the app.
To remove a device;
- Select the device on the home screen
- click the “…” button to load the device control panel
- Scroll and tap remove
- Confirm your intention to delete the device.
Unfortunately, removing and resetting the device clears its data and restores the default settings. All your automation and device settings are lost, and you must reconnect and configure the device afresh to continue using it.
Alternatively, you could configure the exact network details as the previously connected network. However, the details must match the ones stored on your devices, making it a daunting task.
Now you can reconnect your device to the new network.
How Do I Connect My Geeni to A New Wi-Fi?
To connect your Geeni device to a new Wi-Fi network, put the device in pairing mode (The LED indicator light should be blinking), and connect your mobile device to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network you intend to connect your Geeni device. Finally, use the Geeni app to connect your device to the network.
When setting up the device to your network, ensure that your VPN or Ad guard software is disabled. They mask your mobile device’s IP address and hinder a smooth connection.
As the Geeni app supports only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi frequency, ensure a separate SSID for 5 and 2.4 GHz. Most newer network routers broadcast both frequencies on a single SSID.
Therefore, see to it that they are separated for a smooth setup process.
Here is how to connect your Geeni device;
Download the Geeni app, agree to the terms and conditions, and set up your Geeni account.
For Android users, don’t use the “login with Google” option at the bottom of the app; this won’t grant you administrative rights to add devices. Use the whole sign-up process, verify your account, and set a secure password.
To automatically scan available devices, enable your Bluetooth and location on your mobile device and grant the Genni app permission to access them.
- Open the Geeni app
- Tap on the top right “+” icon or the “Add Device” button
- Select the device type from the category options
- Connect to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Select the 2.4 GHz SSID and enter the correct password. Tap Next Step.
- Confirm your device is in pairing mode (flashing indicator light). The Geeni app offers Easy Mode and Manual mode, depending on your device. The manual mode allows you to connect to the device hotspot and comes in handy when experiencing connection problems.
- Finishing up the set-up. Let the app find, register, and initialize your device.
- Name the device and hit Done on the top right.

How Do I Change the WIFI on My Geeni Camera?
To connect your Geeni camera to a new Wi-Fi network, reset the camera to enter pairing mode and set it up on the new network. You don’t necessarily have to remove the camera from the app for the new Wi-Fi network to work.
The reset and re-pair process ensures that your camera remains on your account and your settings aren’t lost.
Hold the reset button for 5 – 10 seconds to reset the camera. Once the camera resets, you get a voice prompt.
Resetting clears your camera Wi-Fi configurations and puts it in pairing mode.
Now, set up the camera on the Geeni app and connect to the new Wi-Fi network. Be sure to use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and the correct password.
