Gosund smart plugs are a darling among many people in the smart home industry. Smart plugs quickly transform our conventional devices into smart ones allowing convenient control. As with any device, resetting it is one of the common troubleshooting tips when trouble strikes. This underlines the importance of knowing how to reset your Gosund smart plug.
In this post, I will walk you through the reset process and how to reconnect your plug via the Gosund app.
How To Reset Gosund Smart Plug
To reset your Gosund plug, connect it to a working power outlet and press the reset button for 10 – 15 seconds. This performs a soft reset and puts the device in pairing mode. You can now connect the device to the Gosund app.
Depending on your needs, you might need a soft or hard reset. Soft resetting helps when fixing standard connectivity or response issue on your Gosund plug.
Before resetting the plug, perform a power cycle to soft reset the plug. This could fix your problem without performing a factory reset.
To power cycle, disconnect the plug from the power outlet, wait 10 – 20 seconds for it to discharge fully, plug it back into the outlet, and power it on.
Power cycling refreshes the plug’s connection to your home network. It can be vital to solving the offline problem.
The advantage is that no data is lost during a power cycle; the plug reconnects to your network and is available via the app.
Performing a Factory Resetting
Unlike power cycling, factory resetting wipes the device clean, clearing all its data and settings. It also removes the plug from third-party integrations like Alexa or Google Home. After factory resetting, you must set up the plug afresh on your network.
Before factory resetting, remove the plug from the paired app. Gosund smart plugs are compatible with Gosund or Smart Life apps. Hooking off the plug from the app disassociates it from the account.
To remove your device from the app > tap the device on the home screen > hit the edit icon to load up the device control panel window > scroll to the bottom of the page > and tap Remove Device or “Remove Device – clear data” > confirm your option.
After removing the device, power cycle it and now perform the reset;
- Plug it into a working power outlet. Ensure it is a standard outlet and not a dimmer one.
- Press and hold the reset button for 5 – 10 seconds
- The status LED indicator blinks rapidly, indicating the plug is in pairing mode.
- Reconnect the plug on the Gosund app
Gosund plugs have two forms of pairing mode AP and EZ mode. The EZ mode is the default and normal mode where the plug LED flashes rapidly.
On the other hand, AP mode allows you to connect to the device’s hotspot during the setup process. Double reset the plug to enter AP setup mode – the LED indicator flashes slowly, indicating AP pairing mode.
First, perform the normal reset by pressing the reset button for 5 – 10 seconds. While the plug is quickly flashing, perform another reset.
That’s it; your plug is reset; reconnect it to your network via the Gosund or Smart Life app.
How Do I Reconnect My Gosund Smart Plug?
To reconnect your Gosund plug, ensure your mobile device is connected to the intended 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Also, disable any VPN or Ad guard software on your mobile device for a smooth connection process.

Final Thoughts
The Gosund plug reset process is straightforward. Connect the plug to a standard fixture and press the reset button for 5 – 10 seconds. This clears the plug’s Wi-Fi data and app configurations. You must reconnect the plug to your network to continue using it.
Again, once you reconnect, integrate the plug into your assistant, Alexa or Google Assistant, to activate voice control commands.
Resetting comes in handy when facing connection or functional problems. Also, if you intend to gift the plug to a friend, reset and remove it from your account. This helps avoid the “associated account” error during setup.
